"...the aromatics are fresh
with florals and minerals, but also lime and orange blossom. Soft in the
mouth at first, it builds its flavor impact with Asian pear, green
melon, quince, citrus, all in one tasty package." *** (Excellent, Top Notch) "Odd Grape Out" "...it's modeled on the fresh,
zingy Albariños of northwestern Spain—and it's a success, with a
wonderful light nuttiness and a splash of ginger. "...Albariño, the famed
white wine grape of Spain. I could wax poetic about this aromatic and
floral wine, but suffice it to say, if you like Viognier, you're going
to love this wine! "...exotic and fragrant
nose, white peach accents, rich palate, plenty of peachy fruit;
minerally finish. |
"...While trying not to go too gaga, we also
discovered what amounts to a much younger cousin (at least in spirit) of
this wine, right here in California: a rosé from Verdad..." 91
2006 Verdad Rosé Pinkish-orange and smelling like strawberries and flower gardens, this rosé has a good dose of acidity, tight red fruit flavors and a spoonful of pepper going down." -David Tamarkin, Time-Out, Chicago - August 3-10, 2006 ,,,In 1998 Louisa-Sawyer
Lindquist founded Verdad in the Central Coast .... Her 2005 Arroyo
Grande Rosé, a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Tempranillo, is lean and
crisp with just a hint of herbs -- perfect for food hot off the grill. *** (Excellent, Top Notch) ...a fresh, fruity, dry
rosé combines the best of the red-and-white-wine worlds.... Exceptional "...rose petal and bright
fruit aromatics and flavors; a no-brainer for summer grilled foods. |
"...the 2005 version is
augmented with 15 percent Syrah (from Bien Nacido) to give the wine some
snap and a lusher middle palate, as well as 10 percent Grenache (from
Purisima Mountain) to give an aromatic lift to the nose. Rose petal,
road tar, ripe cherry and berry fruit come through on the nose, while
the black cherry, cocoa powder and smoky toast flavors are balanced and
easily accessible, as the sweet oak and spice caresses the ripe fruit." Verdad Tempranillo, 2003 —
