2002 ROSÉ
Central Coast

This lush, vibrant and dry Rosé is made from 95% Grenache and 5% Tempranillo. The Tempranillo was grown on the Ibarra-Young Vineyard in Los Olivos. Half of the Grenache was grown on the Purisima Mountain Vineyard in Los Olivos and half was grown on the Rancho Arroyo Grande Vineyard in San Luis Obispo County. The two Grenache lots were fermented separately and cold soaked overnight for color extraction then pressed off the skins, and put into older, neutral barrels for fermentation. About one third of the wine went through malolactic fermentation. One month prior to bottling the lots were blended together and the Tempranillo was added. The wine aged for a total of five month before racking, filtration and bottling.

In the wine there are aromas and flavors of wild strawberries, heart of watermelon and spice. The creamy mouth feel leads to a crisp, zesty finish. This wine can be enjoyed on its own or with a variety of grilled meats, seafood, salads and cheese. Total production was 265 cases.
